Dear reader, everyone is entitled to their interpretation of the debate winner and only time will tell who the winner really may have been.
Scene one of the Presidential debate on 9/10/24: ex-President Donald Trump walks in and is confronted with a welcoming handshake from Vice President Kamala Harris. He wasn't ready for that one!
My first impression of his appearance was his hair, it's no longer blond but light brown, and he looked overweight. His response to most questions from the moderators were indirect, often nonsensical, and more often, lies and half-truths. The matter of the Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, they being there properly and legally, was peculiar. He suggested they were eating dogs and cats and causing accidents. It was so provocative that I wonder why these poor immigrants wouldn’t simply bring litigation because of the malice and defamation. We can never forget that E. Jean Carrol was defamed by Donald Trump, and has an $80 million award pending. It is not surprising that the ex-President would allow his flannel tongue to overwhelm any need for civility.
Meanwhile, Vice President Harris was quite presidential and seemed well prepared. She smiled and acted like the adult in the room. In fact, she acted like she had been on a similar stage over many contested matters in the past. Of course I'm referring to her 25 years of prosecuting criminals and frauds.
The debate ended and shortly thereafter Taylor Swift went public suggesting she was telling her millions of followers to support Vice President Kamala Harris. In the past, Swift has been extremely civic minded.
Ex-President Donald Trump claimed loudly that he was the victor, and that there was no need for any more debates. Did he have his fingers crossed when he said that? You betcha!
