In Uvalde, Texas, at Robb Elementary School, where 17 children and 2 teachers lost their lives. The police showed up and took no action for over an hour. Later Governor Greg Abbott commented on their “bravery”! Governor Greg Abbott is tough sounding but what Texas really needs is a re-birth of honor in bringing up our children and grandchildren. We must accept truth and recapture the soul of the voter.
Who wants Texas to lead every other state in hand gun ownership, in cruel and unusual treatment of immigrants, in border hypocrisy, in voter suppression, in indifference to school shootings, in defiance of the U.S. Supreme Court, and in disrespect towards the United States Constitution?
The above winner (loser) is Governor Greg Abbott of Texas.
I will be 87 in March. I love my country, my flag and the U.S. Constitution. I am a former small business owner, amateur writer, a God-fearing father and grandfather. I served in the Army in 1956-57, in France and in Germany. I have 2 older brothers buried in Arlington Cemetery. The oldest was decorated for valor in World War II. I refuse to leave this great life venture, keeping silent over political abuses which are now propelling us to so many lawless wannabee autocrats.
Let’s go back and study some past good servants from Texas.
In World War II there were 14 million men in military uniform in the war against Germany and Japan. Texas was one of the top 10 in military operations and production. Audie Murphy from Kingston, Texas, was the most decorated soldier out of the 14 million that served. He was fearless and humble. He went on to a movie career making westerns in Hollywood. (He would not accept money from liquor or cigarette ads out of deference to the youth of America.) He was a gentle soul until his death from a plane crash in 1971. Would he be a supporter of the political philosophy of Greg Abbott? No way under God’s green Earth.
Sam Rayburn, Texas Congressman and U.S. Speaker of the House, in 1955, with a great reputation as a leader, Senator Lloyd Bentsen, friend of President John Kennedy, President Lyndon Johnson, an accomplished civil rights advocate, and finally the two George Bush Presidents….it must be noted that in my humble opinion, none of these Texans were tough guys pushing guns and abject defiance of the U.S. Constitution. They were public servants attempting to do their duty to their country. None were radical in their political behavior.
Former President Ronald Reagan supported immigration and supported the Brady Gun Bill. During his Presidency he was able to make Russia remove the Berlin wall and also to make that country change political course.
Governor Abbott puts barb wire in rivers to frustrate immigrants. He is grossly hostile to any immigration policy. He puts immigrants on buses like cattle and ships them to “liberal” places like California, Chicago and New York. Has this governor gone to the U.S. House of Representatives where the Republicans hold a majority and demanded from them a solution to the immigrant problems at the border? No, dear reader. Why? Because it is all a political con job to keep blaming his opponents for the ills at the border. Ex-President Donald Trump is of the same ilk: “Don’t clear up the border problems. It may give the opposition breathing room.” So, my dear Texans, it is all a game and a disgusting one at that. Senator James Lankford from Oklahoma tried to co-sponsor a border bill and was actually censured by his local Republican Party. We must answer the question. Is America slipping into an abyss over destructive political positions? We must escape the petty ignorance in our midst or possibly see a collapse.
The gun lobby in Texas wants more and more guns and assault weapons. They don’t want you to know that in 1890 the local Sheriffs and Marshals were going in to see the city mayors to demand the legal right to ban side arms. The towns were tired of drunken cowboys shooting innocent citizens and themselves. Wyatt Earp and Wild Bill Hickock were well known Sheriffs in that era. Guns were brought under control shortly thereafter. Now we have to suffer through assault weapon shootings in elementary schools. It is so bad, children are forced to do active shooter drills. Nine-year olds have lost their face to bullets, requiring identification by DNA. In Uvalde, Texas, at Robb Elementary School, where 17 children and 2 teachers lost their lives. The police showed up and took no action for over an hour. Later Governor Greg Abbott commented on their “bravery”!
Guns are not the answer for safety; it’s all a crock. Out of the 200 countries of the world, we are the only one that puts guns way ahead of the lives of our children. Now we better recognize that the more guns in a community, the more death by guns in that community. It is an equation that cannot be denied. Not another child in any community in the United States should be sacrificed to appease the assault weapon gun lobby. It is ridiculous and hurtful to all the innocents. Let’s stop irrational behavior immediately.
Governor Greg Abbott is tough sounding but what Texas really needs is a re-birth of honor in bringing up our children and grandchildren. We must accept truth and recapture the soul of the voter. I guarantee it will please God, and relieve your conscience. Lastly, let me offer an idea that may impact your life via two western movies: The Oxbow Incident, and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. These movies show with precision what can go wrong if you forsake our laws.
Find those 2 movies, watch those 2 movies, and then let us bring decency and moderation back to Texas. These two movies should be made part of all-American civics classes.
God bless the memory of those 55 Founding Fathers that gave us a government that has lasted 235 years.
All of these ignorant bastards will pay the price come November. VOTE THEM ALL OUT!
VOTE BLUE! ANY INCUMBENT NEEDS TO GO WORK FOR A LIVING. CAN'T DO YOUR JOB? WE'LL FIND SOMEONE FED-UP & WILLING TO STEP UP.
