President Joe Biden honors treaties, speaks truth to power, and wants to see victory by Ukraine. What else should he be doing to help the cause? He can go on national television and give the American public a status report on the total situation in Ukraine. He can lead the way in support by getting the average American to realize Ukraine is fighting for us and there are more things we can do to help besides military armaments.
The United States just authorized over $60 billion worth of military equipment to help support the war in Ukraine. But they need our moral support as well. We have an investment to insure them winning the war against the Russian tyrant Vladimir Putin, who has plans to absorb Ukraine into his Russian orbit. NATO, EU countries, the US, and Canada, must not forget that all Ukrainians are fighting for them as well. Russia is trying to rebuild their past empire. Remember, Russia is just a country with a GDP the size of Texas, or the size of Italy. Comically almost, it seems Russia has to empty its prisons to get enough soldiers to the field of battle. Putin must go begging to Iran, North Korea and China to help with military supplies. Meanwhile Finland has had to close its borders to stop an influx of escaping Russian citizens.
Remember, it is thought by many that Vladimir Putin is the richest man in the world. He has a residence that is worth $1.3 billion. Don’t forget 20% of Russian residences are without running water! Note there has been a tax increase to support Putin's war. Is this goofy? Yes! He seems in total to be a 2-bit war criminal, 5 feet 6 inches tall and he swings his left arm when he walks like he's pulling a chain. He is a man of unusual cruelty. He puts fear into all opponents or puts them in jail or kills them if they don't do his bidding. How did he get all these riches? By commandeering profits from the Russian gas and oil industry. When he took power over 20 years ago, he intimidated, imprisoned, or killed all the former Russian executives in the oil industry.
The crazy part about Vladimir Putin, is that ex-President Donald Trump, Representative Marjorie Taylor Green, Fox News, (especially Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity) and many other MAGA Republicans support Putin’s “political style”. Is this un-American and causing President Ronald Reagan to roll over in his grave? You betcha!
If Ukraine fails to win, Russia will keep waging war against more neighbors as he seeks more power and territory.
What can President Joe Biden do? Remember he was elected honestly and properly without question, despite the noise put out by those goofy disinformation MAGA Republicans.
We should let the average citizen in Ukraine as well as all the military know that we acknowledge their struggle. They want to protect their own freedom and liberty so that ours will continue. So how about gifts? When I was in the army, packages from home were a morale boost. How about private donations financing hard fighting Ukrainian soldiers on the front line that need time off. In World War II general Dwight Eisenhower insisted on occasional trips to Paris from the German frontlines so that the American soldiers could take some time off from the stress of the battlefield.
We simply must not expect a free ride on the backs of those Ukrainian soldiers doing all the heavy lifting in the battle against the Russian invader.
We show our own patriotism by private donations to the military in Ukraine. Is there a side benefit? Vladimir Putin could care less about keeping his troops happy. They are just cannon fodder for him.
We must back honest and dedicated freedom fighters by showing moral support as well as military might to this good cause.
We all must realize there is more than just guns and bullets in this war. Honor and respect shown to our allies that are in the battle can pay large dividends. American GI’s in WWII were treated with dignity and decency. Did it affect their ability to fight? You betcha!
May God bless all military and civilians in Ukraine undergoing so much of this disruption in their daily lives. Come on America, let's do our duty in sharing and caring. We have a very big investment to protect and to nurture, let’s not fail! We are the richest nation in the world, we must help out with more than casual lip service and armaments. Its our civic duty to do what ever we can to build the morale of an ally like the Ukrainians.
