We must now employ an unusual survival tactic. I firmly believe that as soon as possible, the top three polling companies in the United States should ask Americans eligible to vote this question: Do you desire to keep a Constitutional Presidency, or should we now transfer political power to an authoritarian? Dear reader, let's find out if the American public truly is tired of a Constitutional Presidency leading this great country.
Was Donald Trump improperly or illegally elected President of the United States on November 5th, 2024? No dear reader, he was not, and I will admit that immediately. However, under the 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution, I am entitled to comment and discuss my political fears for the future of the U.S. government. At this very minute the United States democracy is the envy of the entire free world. We have problems on our border admittedly, we also have problems with inflation. But the free countries of the world have higher inflation rates and border problems as well. Don't forget that new President-elect Donald Trump made a mistake last May when he demanded a bipartisan border bill that would have cured the problems be squashed by his fellow Republicans. He wanted the border problems to be part of his campaign by criticizing President Joe Biden, so the bill never got passed.
Dear reader, 10 days have gone by since the election of candidate Donald Trump to the Presidency and I am already forced to make a few remarks based mainly on the appointments he is making for major department heads of the government. Remember and remember well, there are problems with major changes in heading up the Military, heading up the CIA, heading up the Department of Justice, and heading up the HHS, with appointees that have strong negative opinions and a very strong desire to make political/ideological changes. What's the matter with that? It's a problem because morale is a very important part of Federal jobs. Ideologues who want to make severe and unreasonable changes can do great harm to a department. Especially when the mission is bound to cause mayhem and chaos simply for political reasons.
I'm 87 (and not in the best of health) but I want to assure my blog readers that I have ZERO plans to leave this great country of ours quietly. I hear the talk of retribution and revenge by many people including our next President against his so-called opponents. Even though they were just the loyal opposition. My Bible says don't worry about those who can “take your life, only fear those who can destroy your soul”. Remember, I am too old to be a quiet voter over the destruction of the country that I love.
My message to our new President to be, to Elon Musk, to Fox News, and all their pundits, and especially to CPAC representing MAGA Republicans is this: I personally honor the majority vote of the people for Donald Trump, but my first reaction when I watched the votes coming in was “forgive them for they know not what they do”! Note well that my simple reaction could change if good political decisions emerge.
Why would I say something like that? It's because we are about to see ideology trumping reason and truth. The MAGA voter saw Fox News, saw many cable right wing pundits, saw $30 million ads saying that the school system was being ruined by transgender athletes. Dear reader be sure to note well for the sake of not harming transgender children, that they make up less than 1 1/2 percent of the children of the United States. And you have to search and search to find transgender athletes in schools. Every athletic department and every elementary school or high school does not have transgenders. The political ads were total BULL! Were they effective to distract away from truth? In my opinion anything that harms children to gain a political edge is wrong. The real issue that counts and impacted this election was inflation. The other issue, the border, would have been taken care of by the May bipartisan border law that was not passed. Again, because MAGA Republicans were told to squash it by Donald Trump.
In the United States I have seen blueberries go up from $2.00 a pint to $4.00 a pint. I have seen apples doubling in price. I have seen the average family with three children spending $30 to $40 a week more on groceries. Increases in annual incomes over average has not solved the problem. On the other hand, never forget the United States has a lower inflation rate than other free world countries. Those free world countries envy the success of the United States as a nation. Now Republicans are going to give tax breaks to the rich plus raise tariffs. So, will that make inflation go up? You betcha!
Plato said democracies pass into despotism. How does this happen? Well, people begin looking for easy answers, they forget their history, they forget their Founding Fathers, they forget their High School civics, and then they abandon what George Washington, and the early Americans wanted, it's called patriotism to the U.S. Constitution.
So what replaces a democracy? Newly elected President Donald Trump does not venerate George Washington, he does not venerate Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, or Ronald Reagan. He venerates and envies the power of Vladimir Putin and Vicktor Orban. And he also studies the works of Adolf Hitler.
So, let's talk about Adolf Hitler. Adolf Hitler took a dictatorship and ran with it in 1933 when he was elected Chancellor of Germany. He had a lot of opposition, and it is generally unknown that his first concentration camps were built in Germany to house his political opponents, not the Jewish community. He demanded full and total worship. He demanded that his military generals be loyal to him, not to the country of Germany. And it was required that greetings in Germany were with “Heil Hitler”, with the right arm raised in a salute.
Similarly, King George III of England made great demands of his subjects as monarch. He fired his cabinet members right and left for lack of loyalty. He used the American colonists like an ATM banking machine. Ben Franklin and the colonists fought over taxation without representation. The results produced the Declaration of Independence by the American colonists. War was declared and they defeated George III of England in 1782. Don’t forget King George III died later of insanity.
So how did Adolf Hitler die? Well after millions of civilian war deaths in 22 countries, and millions more in the military, it is important to note his last few weeks on earth. Remember in 1945, he was losing the war and all of his accumulated conquests. As he saw his losses mounting, he set up a group called the Werewolves, whose job it was to track down any Nazis who were losing their loyalty to him. He generally told them to execute any German soldiers who tried to surrender to the allies. During his last two weeks on earth, Hitler prepared a list of all of his living opponents in concentration camps or elsewhere and demanded their immediate execution. One of his targets was Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a Lutheran minister famous for his faith and his many disagreements with Adolf Hitler. When the guards arrived at his cell to arrest him before his execution, they were in tears.
So, what about Hitler’s close circle of loyalists? Well dear reader a few survived the Nuremberg trials by admitting wrongs, but 19 had to be hung. Perhaps the most notable of his followers were Heinrich Himmler, who committed suicide. Following Hitler's own suicide, his Chief propagandist Joseph Goebbels (a practicing Catholic) poisoned his six children, killed his wife and then killed himself. Dear reader, this seems to be a tragic lesson for those who choose a false God venerated for all the wrong reasons.
George Washington was our first President. He had power and money and he could have had a lot more, but he chose to renounce any idea of being a king or any idea of being a dictator. He and those 55 men in Philadelphia were the wealthy class of the country in 1787. They worked for over three months to construct the United States Constitution. That document gave the power of the country to the people to chose their leaders. The elected President had to work with the Legislative and Judicial Branch of the government. They were co-equal.
Don't forget every American politician past and present had to take an oath to the U.S. Constitution not to a person. The flag and the Constitution remain what must be honored. When I was drafted into the United States Army I had to swear allegiance to that same U.S. Constitution.
I firmly believe dear reader that the United States of America is not an Administrative State out of control. Our government does not need to be blown up or destroyed. The Heritage Foundation, the Federalist Society, and six members of the U.S. Supreme Court are simply wrong, and their need to be hostile to our present form of government is not justified. Our 250-year-old U.S. Constitution has been full of success. Have we made mistakes? Yes. Do we do everything we can to repair our mistakes? Yes, we do. Why are we the envy of the free world? It's because we keep trying. In my 87 years, I see the criticism literally as a CROCK that should be resisted by all patriotic reasonable men and women in our country. Why should we allow our successful Institutions to be torn apart? Why all the need for mayhem and chaos? Something's not adding up here.
Let’s keep our rule of law SACROSANCT and not pour gasoline on our U.S. Constitution.
We must now employ an unusual survival tactic. God bless the U.S. Constitution and the country that it has ruled so well.
